The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned the UN Secretary General for participating in the BRICS summit in Kazan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sharply condemned the participation of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in the BRICS summit, which is taking place in Kazan, Russia. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that such participation of an international leader at an event organized by an aggressor country is unacceptable, especially in view of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian diplomats point out that Antonio Guterres rejected Kyiv's invitation to the Peace Summit in Switzerland, accepting an invitation from Putin:

"This is a wrong choice that does not contribute to the cause of peace. This only harms the reputation of the UN."

In addition to Guterres, the BRICS summit in Kazan is attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. A number of leaders, including the president of Brazil and the prince of Saudi Arabia, refused to travel to Russia.
