Law enforcement officers conduct large -scale searches in offices and dwellings of employees of Chernivtsi customs. According to journalists Taras Seredich and Eugene Plinsky, the persons involved in involvement in the illegal export of cigarettes Kent and Ashima in Romania.
The operation is carried out by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security together with other security structures. According to the information released, the organized group exported cigarettes under the guise of another cargo - for example, to change. The criminal scheme is probably involved in both management and customs officers.
In particular, the searches are conducted by the head of the Chernivtsi customs Yuri Gerasimov and the head of the customs post "Porubne". Law enforcement officers seized mobile phones, documents, rough accounting and other evidence that confirm their possible participation in the scheme.
Yuri Gerasimov headed the Chernivtsi Customs in January 2024. He used to work in Kharkiv. He changed Mikhail Tovta, who was released after exposing millions of abuse - in particular, the illegal import of electronic cigarettes by UAH 42 million.
The investigation is ongoing. There are currently no official comments from the State Customs Service.
