Law enforcement officers of the Dnipropetrovsk region exposed two participants of an organized criminal group, who were deceived by the relatives of the Ukrainian military. This was reported by the press service of the coordination headquarters on the management of prisoners of war.
The attackers acted cynically: they found posts of missing or captive defenders of Ukraine on social networks and offered fictitious assistance in their liberation or treatment. They required a subscription. The promises were not fulfilled - the money was simply appropriated.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers installed at least 23 victims of families from different regions of Ukraine. The total amount of money reached UAH 5 million. The indictment has already been transferred to court. The attackers are threatened with up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property for fraud in particularly large sizes.
The coordination headquarters on the management of prisoners of war reminds: it is not necessary to transfer personal data or funds to outsiders who promise "assistance" for money. All issues regarding the liberation of prisoners of war are coordinated solely through official state channels.
Citizens are advised to be careful as possible and to check any information in order not to be victims of fraudulent schemes against the background of the tragedy.
