The tragedy happened in the Izium district of Kharkiv region near the village of Mala Komyshivakha. Three locals decided to disassemble the Russian self -propelled artillery installation (SAU), which remained in place after the occupation of the district by Russian troops.
During disassembly, one of the men began to spray the barrel of the gun. This led to a detonation of the artillery projectile, which remained inside. Two men were killed from the explosion - 1988 and 1964.
Information about the incident was reported by police of Kharkiv region. Criminal proceedings under Article 115 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the Note “Accident” were opened after death.
Law enforcement officers emphasize that in case of finding suspicious or similar objects, it is strictly forbidden to touch, move or try to disassemble them. Such items should only be disposed of professional sappers.
