A brutal attack on an elderly woman occurred in the village of Kniboki, Shepetivsky district of Khmelnytsky region. Two locals-a man and a woman-at night broke into the house of a 68-year-old pensioner, accusing her of witchcraft. The attackers were beating the victim, strangled, stabbed, and then tried to take it to the forest for further torture. Only the timely arrival of the police saved the woman of life.
The incident happened on June 7, 2024 about half the first night. The accused, while intoxicated, came to the pensioner's house, knocked the door and began abuse. They motivated their actions by the fact that the woman seems to be engaged in "witchcraft".
They put the beaten and wounded woman in the trunk of the car, going to take out in the forest strip. However, they were prevented by police officers who managed to arrive promptly on the call.
According to the Khmelnytsky Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found the court guilty of several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: torture, threat of murder, illegal imprisonment, penetration into housing. The man was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison. The woman received two years of the trial. The sentence has not yet entered into force and may be appealed.
