The State Bureau of Investigation reported the detection of a serious crime in one of the military units in the Kyiv region. Former first deputy commander, together with a member of the official commission, according to the investigation, intentionally hid the suicide of the serviceman and forged the documents, indicating that he had died in the battle.
Instead of an objective investigation of the causes of death, the officials made a fake act stating that the soldier was killed during the combat mission. This document was officially issued and transferred for its intended purpose, which gave grounds for payment of the family of the deceased UAH 15 million - as compensation for death during hostilities.
The DBR emphasized that both servicemen knew for sure that the soldier committed suicide. The falsification of the circumstances of his death is not only a criminal offense, but also causes serious harm to the system of military service, trust in the Armed Forces, and also causes ethical and legal consequences for the family of the deceased.
The defendants of the case have already been informed of the suspicion. They are threatened with punishment, including imprisonment.
The pre -trial investigation is ongoing. Investigators establish whether other military officials were involved in the crime.
