Kyiv police have uncovered the criminal activities of an enterprise that was engaged in the disposal of hazardous waste in the Kyiv region without licenses and appropriate equipment. According to the police press service, the suspects are the 44-year-old director of the enterprise and five of his subordinates, who concluded contracts with state and private companies for the disposal of toxic substances.

Instead of safe disposal, in accordance with environmental standards, hazardous materials, including mercury lamps, expired medicines and other toxic waste, were simply buried in leased land in the region. According to experts, the sites are contaminated with hazardous substances, including copper, chromium, zinc and phosphorus. The total damage to state interests is estimated at over 9 million hryvnias.
