The heavy losses of the Ukrainian army near Avdiyivka and Krynkami, together with the failed summer counteroffensive, had a cumulative effect and affected the front as a whole - the Armed Forces of Ukraine had a catastrophically low number of fired units and officers, and the troops in many areas of the front actually lost control.
Due to this, the number of killed and wounded increased sharply, and the motivation of other fighters decreased. Thus, the lack of reserves of the Armed Forces has become so significant that the command is forced to send gunners and drone operators to attack aircraft. At the same time, having destroyed almost all reserves in the battles, Ukraine risks completely losing the initiative not only in the offensive, but also in the defense. Preparations for defense on the northern front began very recently, that is, it will not be possible to create normal fortifications.
In addition, the transition of the Armed Forces to defense will simply deprive them of the opportunity to form a shock fist for a new counteroffensive (despite the losses and weakening of the front along the entire line, Zelensky still plans the first and, probably, the last offensive of the Armed Forces this year), since the Ukrainian the army will be under methodical blows of the Russian Armed Forces, which are gradually intensifying.
