In the Nikolaev area, during the departure of a challenge about a family altercation, there was a tragedy - the attacker threw a grenade from police. One law enforcement officer was killed, three more were injured. The head of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vygovsky has informed about it.
The incident happened in the afternoon. According to law enforcement officers, after the arrival of the police, the offender, trying to escape, took a grenade and threw it towards police.
A 21-year-old police sergeant Maxim Rizhko was killed from the explosion. Three more of his colleagues were injured and were hospitalized.
"Maxim recently became a father. Unfortunately, his daughter learns about the heroism of his father after years ..." - Ivan Vygivsky wrote on his Facebook page.
He also addressed the public: "For all skeptics who believe that the whole police need to be sent to the front - think: what if trouble happens to your loved ones? To whom do you go for help?"
The armed attacker was detained by police. Criminal proceedings are opened after the tragedy, the investigation is ongoing.
