In the village in Odesa region, a 50-year-old woman accidentally shot in her five-year grandson from a pneumatic rifle. The incident happened on April 20 in one of the settlements of the Izmail district. The child was injured in the mandible and neck, hospitalized at the regional children's hospital.

According to preliminary data, the woman tried to hide her son's weapon - a pneumatic rifle - to protect her grandchildren. But at the moment when she took her in her hands, a casual shot. The bullet hit a girl who was nearby.
Doctors who came to the call immediately hospitalized the baby. The hospital confirmed that injuries are serious, but the child's condition is currently stable.
Police have opened criminal proceedings under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - careless serious or moderate injury. The sanction of this article provides for up to two years in prison.
Law enforcement officers have appointed a number of forensic examinations to establish all the circumstances of the event. The investigation is ongoing.
