On the occupied Ukrainian territory, the Russian Federation is trying to open a railway route that will connect Russia with Crimea

The adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Mykhailo Andryushchenko, said that the Russian Federation is trying to open a railway route in the occupied territory, and this could become a reality by May.

He noted that the enemy did not start the construction of the route from scratch, but used the existing routes in order to improve logistics. In particular, before the invasion of Donbas, there was a road that connected Mariupol, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The occupiers started building a railway on the occupied territory, which will connect Russia with the Crimean peninsula. The enemy hopes that this will make his life much easier. Mariupol Mayor Petro Andryushchenko told about this in a comment on "Channel 24".

According to him, the enemy has now come close to the fact that construction works are nearing completion. Russia has a significant amount of resources, including people and equipment, working around the clock on this project. With a high probability, the railway will be ready for operation by May.

At the same time, the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol added that the occupiers did not build this section of the road from scratch. They are restoring what was destroyed in 2014, when the aggression against the Donetsk region began. The road connected Mariupol, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

"They are not building the entire railway, but completing individual sections. They either replace or rebuild unusable parts. In this matter, Russia is really moving quickly in the wrong direction that we would like," said Petro Andryushchenko.

Separately, he stated that if the railway connection between Russia and Ukraine really works, then the enemy will gain an advantage in military logistics. The volume of military resources at the front will increase.

Now the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are forced to transport everything from Rostov-on-Don to Mariupol, then to Volnovakha and so on. It is at least 300 kilometers. That is, ammunition can be delivered in just a day, not a week.

"Under all the conditions that exist today, a serious problem arises. Russia can get a real railway already this year. If we make it impossible for them to do their work now, we will definitely hit these objects, then this year we will not see this railway. This is great security for our Defense Forces on the front line of the Donetsk region," concluded Petro Andryushchenko.

We will remind, on March 20, it was reported that the Russian Federation continues the construction of the railway in the occupation, but faces certain problems. Nataliya Gumenyuk, a representative of OC "South", added that the enemy invested a lot of economic effort to build an alternative section of the road through the captured regions, but it was not possible to finish it on time.
