In Prykarpattia, a road accident took the lives of five people, including two children

On the evening of December 30, a tragic accident took place near the village of Nastashyne, Ivano-Frankivsk region, which claimed the lives of five people, including two minors. The collision between a BMW passenger car and a DAF truck caused a stir in the region.

Event details

According to the Main Department of the National Police in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the accident occurred on the N-09 highway. At 9:41 p.m., a report was received about an accident that occurred due to violation of traffic rules.

The 20-year-old driver of the BMW 520, a resident of Burshtyn, exceeded the speed limit. On a rounded section of the road, the car drove into the oncoming traffic lane, where it collided with a DAF truck driven by a 52-year-old citizen of Moldova.

The residual height of the tread of the rear wheels of the "BMW" turned out to be lower than the established norms, which could increase the uncontrollability of the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the following died:

  • car driver;
  • four passengers, including two minors.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

The head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration, Svitlana Onyshchuk, expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and urged drivers to be careful on the roads, especially in winter, when traffic conditions become more difficult.

This tragedy once again reminds us of the need to follow traffic rules. Speeding and technical malfunction of the car can be fatal. Drivers are urged to check the condition of their vehicles before leaving and take weather conditions into account.
