According to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the costs of utility bills (the so -called "Thousand Zelensky") were the highest expenses for the National Cashback Programs and Winter Equity. Since the launch of the program, Ukrainians spent 56% of the total, or UAH 3.8 billion, to cover utility costs. This makes it possible to conclude that utility bills remain priority for citizens even in war and economic instability.
However, these funds are not only used for utilities. In general, from October 25, 2024 to February 1, 2025, Ukrainians spent UAH 6.7 billion, having received a total of UAH 9.6 billion through the program. Yes, 1,000 UAH, provided under this program, is also spent on other important costs. For example, UAH 1.4 billion was spent on mobile communications and telecommunication services, which indicates a high demand for communication in the country where military aggression lasts for a long time.
Another important category of costs were food establishments, where Ukrainians spent UAH 386 million. This amount demonstrates that even in war, a large part of the population continues to support the restaurant and coffee shop.
Other expenses include categories such as medicines (UAH 189 million), computer networks and information services (UAH 187 million), charity (UAH 177 million) and books and other printed products (UAH 147 million). All this is a clear confirmation that the program provides significant support to Ukrainians, allowing them to spend money not only on basic needs, but also on different cultural and educational needs.
Railway transportation and public transport received UAH 90 million, and cinemas 47 million UAH. Postal services were used for UAH 42 million, while the cost of cable, satellite and other paid television and radio amounted to only UAH 29 million.
It is worth noting that all these expenses remain in the Ukrainian economy, facilitating the creation of jobs and replenishment of the budget through taxes that go to the financing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It should be noted that applications for the Winter Support Program can be submitted through the Action Action, a partner of partner banks or Ukrposhta by the end of February. The program is available for all citizens who are in the territory controlled by Ukraine, and you can spend money by the end of 2025.
