The head of the Ternopil Regional Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support was informed of the suspicion of extorting a bribe from an entrepreneur for a postponement of military service. As the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reports, this case gained resonance after it became clear that the entrepreneur had a legal right to a postponement.
An entrepreneur studying full-time in one of the educational institutions of Prykarpattia applied to the military commissar for a certificate of deferment. However, the head of the territorial center told the man that it is possible to issue a certificate only for a bribe - in the form of coupons for one thousand liters of diesel fuel, the cost of which is approximately 1.5 thousand US dollars.
The military commissar was detained after receiving fuel coupons. During the detention in his car, the law enforcement officers found and seized not only coupons, but also 13 thousand US dollars and 73 thousand hryvnias in cash. In addition, a search was conducted in the office of the official, during which they also found fuel cards for more than a thousand liters of diesel fuel and gasoline.
Legal consequences
The military commissar was notified of the suspicion of receiving an illegal benefit in accordance with Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years.
