Two laboratory cases of leptospirosis have been registered in Zhmeryn and Gaysinsky districts of Vinnytsia region. According to the profile medical services, the disease was diagnosed with a 14-year-old child and a 21-year-old man. Both were in a state of moderate, received timely medical care and have already recovered.
According to doctors, rodents, which are natural carriers of bacteria of the genus Leptospira, were the probable source of infection. In at least one case, a possible path of infection is established - bathing in the standing water of the SIB river near the village of Novoselivka. In the second case, the source of infection has not yet been established.
The laboratory study confirmed the presence of the ICTEROHAUMORHAGAE LEPTOSPIRA pathogen, which is considered one of the most dangerous: lesions can lead to severe disease with complications, including liver and kidney damage.
Doctors urge residents of the region to be attentive to their health, especially after resting in nature or bathing in non -flowing reservoirs. In the case of symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, headache, redness of the eyes, diarrhea or signs of jaundice - you should consult your doctor immediately.
Experts emphasize that special caution requires contact with wild or stray animals, as well as the use of water from unverified sources.
