Law enforcement officers have exposed a 34-year-old resident of Kamin-Kashyrskyi district of Volyn region who organized the illegal smuggling of conscripted men out of Ukraine. This was reported by the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service.
According to the investigation, the man acted as a driver - for 5 thousand US dollars he drove "clients" to the border. Then the men had to cross the state border on foot, making their way to the neighboring country alone.
The arrest took place in the Rivne region during an attempt to smuggle three men – two Volyn residents, ages 19 and 22, and a 27-year-old resident of Kyiv. In total, this “journey” cost them $15,000.
In addition to the main suspect, suspicions have also been raised against two other participants in the scheme who had already been detained earlier. They helped those who wanted to avoid mobilization and leave Ukraine for a monetary reward.
The court chose a preventive measure for one of the participants in the form of 60 days of nightly house arrest, while the other two will be under 24-hour house arrest.
All the performers worked for the same organizer, who is currently abroad. He was the one who looked for clients, coordinated the route, and resolved organizational issues.
Investigations are currently underway to establish the full scope of those involved in the illegal scheme.
