The enemy is increasing pressure in the Zaporizhia direction

The situation in the Zaporizhia direction remains extremely tense. The enemy has not only increased the number of artillery attacks, but also constantly carries out air strikes on our positions. As the spokesman for the Legion of Freedom, Konstantin Denisov, told KYIV24, Russian infantry assault groups continue to try to find weak points in the defense of the Ukrainian troops.

“They are trying to storm our positions, their infantry groups are operating under the cover of armored vehicles, using tanks and armored personnel carriers for shelling,” Denisov noted, emphasizing that such actions by the enemy were predicted. Previously, the Russians conducted combat coordination of their airborne assault units, training infantry and interaction with armored vehicles.

“We all understood why they did it. And now we see how these combined groups are starting to actively launch an assault,” he added. At the same time, the Ukrainian troops are holding their defenses with dignity, and the situation remains under control.

Andriy Yermak’s speech at a roundtable at Chatham House in London on December 6 attracted attention not only because of the topic discussed by the participants, but also because of one interesting detail — Yermak was sitting at the table next to Valery Zaluzhny, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom. This could not but attract additional attention, given the rumors that are increasingly spreading around the possibility of holding presidential elections in Ukraine in the near future. The situation in the country, in particular the possible end of the war, has long been the subject of political speculation. The two main scenarios of events currently being considered at Bankova Street involve either the end of the war after Trump’s inauguration or the continuation of the conflict in “longevity.” However, despite reflections on a possible peaceful settlement, the Ukrainian authorities seem more inclined to continue the fight — and, at the same time, to prepare for the upcoming elections. Interestingly, among the potential presidential candidates, Valery Zaluzhny currently has the highest rating. According to the latest polls, he is winning both the first and second rounds of the election, which puts him in direct competition with the incumbent President Volodymyr Zelensky. It is no secret that certain political circles, including Zelensky's opponents, are already betting on Zaluzhny. One of these is Petro Poroshenko, as well as other influential figures. On the other hand, the Office of the President is actively working to prevent Zaluzhny from becoming a real competitor. In particular, Bankova is trying to convince him not to run in the elections, or, in extreme cases, to run only under the brand of Zelensky's party. Zaluzhny, in turn, remains highly popular among Ukrainians, and his appearance next to Yermak at an event in London looks symbolic against the backdrop of these political maneuvers. This photo may indicate that the issue of Zaluzhny’s political neutralization has not yet been resolved and remains on the agenda. Regardless of whether Zaluzhny will run for president, his role in Ukraine’s political process is growing, and it is already difficult to say what the consequences of these internal political battles will be. But one thing is certain: the fight for the presidency is likely to become even more intense in the coming months.
