In the Zhytomyr region, work is underway to eliminate the consequences of a powerful explosion that occurred on the evening of July 2 on the strategically important highway M-06 "Kiev-Chop". According to official data, the event happened near the village of Berezina Hlybochytska community around 6:00 pm. The dead and wounded were recorded.
The event was reported by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Viktor Nikita. According to him, immediately after the incident, representatives of the regional and local authorities arrived, who coordinate the work of the emergency staff. All the necessary services are involved: rescuers, doctors, police, psychologists. Heavy equipment works, food and water were delivered for the rescue operation participants.
The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Bunchko said that there were two explosions in a row. The strength of the explosions was such that the damage had undergone elements of road infrastructure. Part of the path is blocked, traffic is complicated.
Information about the exact number of dead and victims is currently being clarified. There are at least a few casualties. The government promises to provide the necessary support for the victims and their families.
The situation is under the personal control of President Vladimir Zelensky. Representatives of the central government may arrive in the place in the near future.
The causes of the explosion are not officially voiced. Law enforcement officers process several versions, including sabotage. An appropriate investigation has been started.
