NABU Detains Former Minister Herman Halushchenko in Midas Case

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine confirmed the detention of former Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko while crossing the state border on Sunday, February 15. This was reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine .

According to the department, the detention took place within the framework of criminal proceedings known as the "Midas" case. Priority investigative actions are currently underway, which are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the law and on the basis of court sanctions.

Journalists report that Galushchenko was traveling on the Kyiv-Warsaw train. MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted that the former minister had legitimate reasons for traveling abroad, but he was removed from the train, likely at the request of law enforcement agencies, in particular the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office .

The Dzerkalo Tyzhnia publication , citing sources, reported that after being transported to Kyiv, Galushchenko is planned to be served with a charge sheet.

What is the point?

Herman Galushchenko headed the Ministry of Energy from 2021 to 2025, and from July to November 2025 he held the position of Minister of Justice.

He is involved in the Midas case, which involves alleged large-scale corruption in the energy sector. According to the investigation, the organizer of the scheme is businessman Timur Mindich .

Previously, the SAPO prosecutor stated that Galushchenko could have received personal benefit by representing Mindich's interests and by using services for the legalization of funds obtained through crime, through a trusted person - advisor Ihor Myronyuk.

After the investigation materials were published on November 12, Galushchenko was removed from the post of Minister of Justice, on November 14 he was removed from the NSDC, and on November 19 the Verkhovna Rada supported a resolution on his dismissal.

A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, and law enforcement agencies are preparing to file charges.
