The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, together with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, have exposed the head of the regional council, Hryhoriy Didenko, and his wife, People's Deputy Yulia Didenko, in falsely declaring their property. According to the investigation, the couple did not indicate in their declarations for 2021–2023 luxury cars and real estate with a total value of over 8 million hryvnias.
Although the NABU report did not name the suspects, journalists determined that the Didenkos were the suspects. According to detectives, the employee and his wife entered false information into their annual tax returns, hiding property acquired without verified sources of income.
The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has already filed a lawsuit with the court to declare the Didenkos' assets worth about 5 million hryvnias unfounded, in order to subsequently collect them as state revenue.
The investigation established that from 2021 to 2024, Grigory and Yulia Didenko purchased luxury apartments and two Audi SQ8 cars — models 2021 and 2024. According to detectives, the value of these assets does not correspond to the family's official income.
The suspects' actions are classified under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - declaring false information. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, during which the sources of funds used to purchase the property are being verified, as well as the spouses' possible connections with other officials who could have contributed to the concealment of assets.
This case is another example of how government officials, while declaring public openness, actually avoid reporting to society their real assets. The investigation is ongoing, and society awaits the public results and a fair court decision.
