Oleksandr Marushchak, the head of the Border Guard Service "Solomonovo", became the person involved in the high -profile criminal proceedings after the court appeared in court an attempt to blackmail by the SBU employee.
As NABU found out, in 2023 the employee of the Security Service of Ukraine Vyacheslav Katerynich received information related to the personal life of the border guard, as well as the probable facts of corruption. Instead, instead of an official check, the official began to demand money for non -disclosure of information. Redemption amount was $ 350,000, which Marushchak transferred to a cryptogaman. It was additionally demanded on a monthly basis for $ 5,000.
The mediator in the transfer of funds - Sergey Pankush - later pleaded guilty and concluded an agreement with the investigation. He received 8 years of imprisonment conditionally with the probationary period. The case of the SBU employee is also in court - Katerynich was arrested with an alternative to a pledge of 10 million hryvnias.
At the same time, the NABU investigation was brought to a new level - about Marushchak himself. In particular, there were questions about the origin of his property and expenses. The media reported a house in Uzhgorod worth about $ 400,000, elite apartments in a business class residential complex, as well as Toyota and Mazda cars that are in use of the family. The border guard's wife conducts business, but data on the scale of its income raises doubts about the context of purchasing such value.
Sources are also associated with Marushchak with searches after detection in 2023 at the border of a minibus with diplomatic numbers, which found 283 boxes of smuggled cigarettes.
After the interrogation of NABU, Marushchak was suspected of Part 1 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (providing undue benefit to an employee). He has now been transferred to the 3rd border detachment stationed in Luhansk region.
The investigation is ongoing.
