NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced the conduct of a large-scale special operation to expose corruption in the energy sector. According to the investigation, this involves the activities of an organized group that has long influenced strategic state-sector enterprises.
The investigation lasted over 15 months. Law enforcement officers collected a significant amount of evidence, including over a thousand hours of audio recordings, which confirm the operation of an extensive corruption scheme.
According to NABU, the organization's participants established a mechanism for controlling state-owned companies, including JSC NNEGC Energoatom. The purpose of the scheme was to illegally enrich and influence management decisions in the energy sector.
This morning, NABU detectives are conducting searches at a number of officials, including the current Minister of Justice and former Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
"This is not the end," the parliamentarian noted, hinting at a possible continuation of the investigation and new revelations.
Searches are also ongoing at the offices of Energoatom and individuals associated with the company. There have been no official comments from ministers yet.
Experts believe that this operation could become one of the largest anti-corruption cases in recent years, as it affects the country's strategic energy security sector.
