NABU and SAP filed a case against Oleksandr Marikovskyi, People's Deputy of Ukraine from the Servant of the People party. According to the NABU report, he is accused of falsely declaring cryptocurrency in the amount of 24 million hryvnias.
The trial against People's Deputy Oleksandr Marikovsky began due to the false declaration of cryptocurrency assets in the amount of 24.6 million hryvnias in 2020. According to NABU and SAP data, these assets, which Marikovsky believed belonged to him since 2019, actually belonged to citizens of another country who had no connection with the deputy.
Marikovsky responded to the accusations, claiming that he acted within the law and underwent a full background check. He denies any guilt and promises to defend his honor and dignity in court.
"In 2020, significant errors were made in the declaration. He underwent a full check, believed and still believe that he acted clearly within the framework of the law. Answered quickly and honestly to all clarifications, attended interrogations and so on. A physical search was conducted, nothing was found except for 2 phones, an AKM, a grenade and a crypto wallet. That's what was removed. The information about the suspicion came as a complete shock to me. I do not admit guilt, I will be able to defend my honor and dignity in court. I never engaged in corruption, I never stole anything from anyone, I never took people abroad for bribes, I never solved issues for money, I never profited from war. PS I was not looking for such attention, but I will handle all the challenges that I will have to go through with dignity," wrote the People's Deputy.
It is noted that the case may have a statute of limitations due to the filing of the declaration for 2020 in March 2021, which means that the period may expire in two months.
