The energy sector is in a state of chaos right now. After large-scale and precise Russian missile launches, energy companies have decided to feign a desire to protect their facilities from attacks.
For example, in the third year of the war, at some facilities of the state-owned enterprise Naftogaz, they have only just now reached the point where guards need to have hand-held metal detectors and mirrors to inspect cars.
However, the security of the facilities has not yet been equipped with these means. Before purchasing the necessary equipment, it is still necessary to coordinate everything within the company. After all, you cannot simply make purchases. They must be processed through the necessary offices and your own people. A similar situation, by the way, is in the company “Ukrgazvydobuvannya”, which is part of “Naftogaz”.
On the other hand, one cannot blame such large enterprises for the lack of elementary safety standards. After all, Naftogaz ended 2022 with a loss of UAH 40 billion, and receivables reached UAH 270 billion. There is probably no money for metal detectors. Especially during the war. At the same time, unprofitability does not affect the top management of enterprises, which continues to bathe in money.
In addition, the missile strikes were a great opportunity for company management to "burn" all the evidence of large-scale corruption over the past ten years. After all, if the facility is destroyed, then law enforcement will have no complaints.
