Ukraine has laid the foundation for regular supplies of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) through Greek terminals and the Vertical Corridor. The corresponding memorandum was signed between Naftogaz Group and the Greek company ATLANTIC-SEE LNG TRADE SA during the ministerial meeting of the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC). This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
The department emphasized that the document opens up the possibility for long-term and regular supplies of American liquefied gas, and also provides for the use of Greek gas infrastructure and logistics routes, which are combined in the strategic project "Vertical Corridor".
Minister of Energy Svitlana Grinchuk noted that the framework of cooperation covers the period until 2050, and the implementation of the agreements will take place in stages.
" A long-term partnership will ensure stable LNG supplies, integrate Ukrainian gas transportation infrastructure into transit routes to Europe, and create a sustainable system for storing and distributing American gas. We are laying a new foundation in transatlantic cooperation and taking a step towards long-term energy stability ," she emphasized.
The ministry also drew attention to the fact that new logistics chains can not only strengthen Ukraine's energy security, but also make it an important component of the pan-European gas supply system in the region of Southeastern and Central Europe.
According to market experts, integration into the LNG supply system through Greece and participation in the "Vertical Corridor" gives Ukraine the opportunity to reduce dependence on traditional routes, diversify import sources, and strengthen its role as a transit and gas distribution hub.
" We thank our partners from the US and Greece. This is not just energy - it's about strengthening Ukraine's economic and geopolitical stability ," added Hrynchuk.
