The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have announced the threat of the state losing UAH 1.6 billion due to the incomprehensible inaction of the management of NJSC Naftogaz. According to them, there is a real opportunity for the first time in the history of Ukraine to return these funds from abroad, but the process is being slowed down due to the position of the company's interim head.
This amount could significantly strengthen the country's defense capabilities, for example, it could be used to purchase over 100,000 FPV drones, which are critically needed on the front. However, instead of facilitating the return of funds, the Naftogaz leadership is demonstrating a lack of decisive action.
Anti-corruption authorities emphasize that delay or lack of reaction could be fatal for this process. NABU and SAPO, which are engaged in the return of assets to Ukraine and the liquidation of corruption schemes, remind that the protection of state interests is the responsibility of all state institutions. Therefore, they call on the management of Naftogaz to act decisively to prevent the loss of funds.
At the same time, many questions remain in the situation. Why is the management of Naftogaz not taking the necessary measures? Is there a political or corporate interest in this matter? And most importantly, will Ukraine be able to return this money, or will it disappear in an unknown direction? It seems that the answers to these questions will have to be sought in the near future.
