Non-factional People's Deputy Artem Dmytruk, known for his support of the Moscow Patriarchate, is currently under investigation for illegal travel abroad. This was reported by the publication "Ukrainian Pravda", referring to sources in law enforcement agencies.
According to information provided by activist Serhiy Sternenko, Dmytruk left the territory of Ukraine on Saturday, August 24. On the same day, he left Moldova via Chisinau airport, taking a flight at 17:40 to Rome, Italy.
The law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the illegal crossing of the state border and the details of the escape of the people's deputy.
Artem Dmytruk entered the parliament from the "Servant of the People" party, but later became non-factional. He is also known for his active support of the Moscow Patriarchate and positions in the church, in particular as a subdeacon of the UOC MP — the most senior clergyman.
In February 2024, Dmytruk provided bail for the monk of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Hierodeacon of the UOC MP, Pavlo Muzychuk, who was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine on suspicion of justifying Russia's aggression against Ukraine. In addition, Dmytruk is suspected of cooperation with a priest of the UOC MP, who is involved in the treason case.
