People's deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk, who was declared an international wanted man after fleeing to Great Britain, made a sensational statement. According to him, in March 2022, he became a victim of torture by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
He published a video with the story on his YouTube channel.
According to the people's deputy, on March 4, 2022, he and his assistants were abducted by SBU officers after a dispute at a checkpoint where he was on duty as part of the territorial defense. Dmytruk claims that they put a bag on him, wrapped his head with tape and brutally beat him with the butts of machine guns, legs and hands.
"I lost consciousness, and when I woke up, I was lying on the floor of the bus," he says.
Later, he was brought to the basement, where, according to Dmytrouk, they began to interrogate him on charges of treason and cooperation with the Russian special services.
"They beat me, trampled me, twisted my fingers. I passed out several times. After that, they took me, allegedly, to throw me off the roof and even simulated a shooting," he said.
Dmytruk also claims that he was forced to record a video in which he apologizes for criticizing President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, and other government officials.
"I was forced to speak loudly and clearly, as on TV broadcasts. Then they ordered me to say something about Trukhanov and the city council, that I will no longer come to the meeting," he added.
In confirmation of his words, Dmytruk showed photos showing numerous hematomas, swelling, a broken nose and other facial injuries.
At the time of publication of the material, the Security Service of Ukraine did not comment on Dmytrouk's statements.
Dmytruk assures that after the torture he was taken out of the SBU building and left in the nearest parking lot, threatening him with death if this story was disclosed.
