The Mukachevo City District Court issued a sentence in the case of a deadly road accident, which occurred in December 2024 in the village of Chinadiyevo, Transcarpathian region. At the wheel of the Ford Focus car was a local resident Yevgeny Turyanchyk, who ran into a man lying on the edge of the road. The victim died on the spot from the injuries.
According to the text of the sentence, which was announced on May 15, 2025, the accused fully pleaded guilty. He explained to the court that he returned home with his wife, and at the time of his arrival he was blinded by the headlights of the oncoming car. The driver suggested that he had moved some obstacle - for example, a woodworks, so he did not stop. Already at home, a man was called from police and reported that a man was killed under the wheels of his car.
The investigation found that the victim was in a state of severe alcohol intoxication - almost 3.8 ppm of alcohol was found in his blood. CCTV cameras recorded that before the tragedy the man first sat down and then fell on the road. The mother of the deceased did not make claims to the accused because he voluntarily compensated all the losses.
Judge Volodymyr Nosov found Yevgeny Turyanchik guilty of violating traffic rules, which caused the victim's death (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and imposed a punishment in the form of three years of imprisonment. At the same time, the court decided to replace the real punishment for one year of the conditional term.
