The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has identified signs of unjustified enrichment in a judge of the Kyiv-Svyatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv region. The basis for this was the monitoring of the official's lifestyle, which the NACP carried out in 2022–2023. This is reported by "Law and Business" with reference to the Agency.
During the inspection, the NACP found out that the judge purchased three vehicles at once at prices that were several times — and in some cases hundreds of times — lower than market prices.
These are the following cars:
-
MERCEDES-BENZ G 350 TD (2013), purchased in September 2022 for UAH 10,000, while the expert value was over UAH 2.1 million.
-
MERCEDES-BENZ G 500 (2013), purchased at the end of 2023 for UAH 529 thousand, while in open sources the price of the car reached almost UAH 685 thousand.
-
RENAULT ZOE (2017), also purchased at the end of 2023 for 5 thousand UAH, although the expert assessment indicated the real value of about 431.5 thousand UAH.
After analyzing the income of the judge and his family members, the NACP concluded that there were no legitimate grounds for the legal acquisition of such property.
Based on this data, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office appealed to the High Anti-Corruption Court with a lawsuit to recognize some of the assets as unfounded. The SAPO demands to recover from the state revenue:
-
car MERCEDES-BENZ G 350 TD (2013);
-
part of the cost of a RENAULT ZOE car (2017);
-
funds found in the judge's bank accounts.
The total amount of unsubstantiated assets, according to the investigation, is over UAH 3.3 million.
According to the Law "On Prevention of Corruption", if the court finds the assets unfounded and decides to seize them, the official is subject to dismissal from office in accordance with the procedure established by law.
