NBU plans to cancel the limit of 150 thousand hryvnias for transfers between cards

The National Bank of Ukraine considers the possibility of cancellation of the limit of 150 thousand hryvnias for transfers from card to card. This can happen in 1-2 months, but provided that banks prove their ability to control the risk transaction.

This was stated by the NBU Chairman Andriy Pishny, stressed that the responsibility for identifying dubious clients should lie not only on the regulator but also on banks.

"In addition to the regulator measures, banks should improve their internal control systems and apply a risk-oriented approach based on the principle of" knowing their client "," Pishny said.

Earlier, the limit of UAH 150 thousand was introduced to counteract financial fraud, including illegal cash flows and money laundering. If the restrictions are canceled, it will greatly simplify large transfers for business and ordinary users.

The NBU is currently observing the readiness of banking institutions to strengthen financial monitoring. They will depend on their effectiveness in combating "shadow" operations whether a decision will be made to remove restrictions.
