The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a commemorative coin with a face value of 5 UAH dedicated to blood donation. It is sold in a limited quantity - one coin per hand. The cost of the coin as of the date of the last sale is 165 UAH.
The NBU emphasizes that this coin is a tribute to donors whose contributions save lives and support the health of the nation. It symbolizes unity, especially in difficult times, when one dose of blood can be life-saving for several people.
On the obverse of the coin, in the center of the composition, a volumetric drop of blood is depicted, which surrounds schematic figures of people connected by handshakes. Stylized drops of blood move from each figure to the center of the circle. At the top is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, as well as the following elements: the inscription “UKRAINE” below the composition, the denomination and graphic symbol of the hryvnia at the bottom right, the year of minting (2024) at the bottom left of the figures, and the logo of the NBU Banknote and Mint on the right between the figures.
On the reverse of the coin, on a mirrored background, there is the inscription “LIFE”, stylized as a blood transfusion system with a needle.
The coin is made of nickel silver alloy (copper, nickel, and zinc), has a diameter of 35 mm, and the mintage is limited to 50,000 pieces.
