In June 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine sold currencies worth $2.986 billion on the interbank foreign exchange market, which is 2.9% less than in May ($3.072 billion). In the first half of the year, the total volume of foreign exchange transactions amounted to 14.170 billion dollars.
In June, Ukraine received 1.9 billion euros (approximately 2.03 billion dollars) of international aid under the Ukraine Facility program of the European Commission. Since the beginning of the year, the total amount of assistance has reached 13.85 billion dollars.
The incomplete expenses of the National Bank to support the hryvnia exceeded the aid, but tranches from the IMF for 2.2 billion dollars are expected, which should compensate for the losses.
In June, Ukraine's international reserves decreased again. The dollar rate on the non-cash transactions market fluctuated, setting new records and falling by the end of the month. The official rate of the National Bank was 40.53 hryvnias per dollar, and the cash rate decreased to 40.80 hryvnias per dollar.
