In the city of Varash in the Rivne region, the director of a local hospital will be tried for overpaying budget funds in the amount of almost 1.8 million hryvnias during the purchase of an oxygen station. This was reported by the Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, in 2021, an official responsible for organizing procurement at a medical institution approved the purchase of an oxygen station at a significantly inflated price. According to the expert's conclusions, the amount of overpayment amounted to almost 1.8 million hryvnias. These funds were allocated from the community budget.
Law enforcement officers qualified the woman's actions as official negligence, which led to serious consequences for state interests. The indictment in the criminal proceedings has already been sent to court. In order to compensate for the damage caused, the suspect's property was seized.
The director faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of two to five years. The court may also impose an additional sentence of a ban on holding certain positions for a term of up to three years and a fine of 250 to 750 tax-free minimum incomes.
