As of February 2025, the debt of Ukrenergo NEC to the balancing market is UAH 18.4 billion. This is UAH 800 million more than at the beginning of February this year. Of this amount, a considerable part of the debt - UAH 6.8 billion - is in the state company Ukrhydroenergo.
First Deputy Minister of Energy Yuri Sheiko announced this during a meeting of the Committee on Energy and Utilities. According to him, the main reason for the accumulation of debt is non -payment by state and communal ownership companies, which significantly complicates the financial situation in the energy market.
In addition, the debt of the NEC “Ukrenergo” exceeds UAH 36 billion, of which UAH 11.8 billion is made from the supplier of the last hope - Ukrinternergo.
This creates serious problems for the stable functioning of the energy sector and complicates the fulfillment of obligations to other market participants. The presence of such significant debts is concern among analysts, as it can affect the financial stability of the industry as a whole.
