Mercedes-Benz has introduced a special limited edition of the iconic G-Class SUV — Stronger than the 1980s. The new model is created in honor of the original Gelendvagen with the W460 index, which debuted in 1979. A total of 460 units will be produced, which is a direct reference to the model’s factory index.
Retro in detail
The new Mercedes G-Class is designed in the style of early models: black bumpers, underbody protection, orange turn signals - everything is like in the 80s. The body colors are selected from the classic palette, and among the design elements - special wheels, a roof rack and a leather spare tire cover.
The interior is a stylish mix: expensive Nappa leather is combined with checkered fabric, which also refers to the original W460. On the dashboard is a nameplate with the serial number and the inscription Stronger than the 1980s. The standard equipment includes a sunroof and a premium Burmester 3D speaker system.
Under the hood — modernity
The SUV will be available in two versions:
-
G500 - with a 449-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine,
-
G450 d — with a 367-horsepower turbodiesel of the same displacement.
Both versions are equipped with modern transmissions, Mercedes-branded all-wheel drive, and have up-to-date driver assistance systems.
Price and availability
The cost of the Mercedes G-Class Stronger than the 1980s starts at $203,000. All 460 copies will have a unique serial number and will become a true collector's item for brand lovers.
