Today it became known that the Nova Poshta delivery service has found itself at the center of a scandal due to its facilitation of the transportation of illegal cigarettes. The Main Detective Unit of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) together with territorial units are conducting a large-scale operation aimed at stopping the illegal manufacture of tobacco products in Ukraine.
The BEB is conducting 24 simultaneous searches at the production facilities and warehouses of four cigarette manufacturers suspected of illegally manufacturing tobacco products. In particular, the production of Form 2 cigarettes and their subsequent sale in Ukraine and the EU countries.
During the searches, detectives have already discovered production lines and over 1 million packs of cigarettes "Marshal", "URTA", "BRUT", "BL", "Marvel", "Compliment", etc. without excise tax stamps. Approximately 18 tons of tobacco were also found.
In addition, it was previously established that the vast majority of shipments of illegally produced tobacco products were carried out by the well-known delivery service Nova Poshta.
A large number of cigarettes without excise stamps were discovered at one of its branches.
Searches at the production facilities are ongoing. Forensics and the State Tax Service are involved in the relevant inspections and investigations.
