The Center for Countering Disinformation has reported a new threat — the enemy is using Shahed-type kamikaze drones equipped with capsules with a poisonous substance. In particular, a concentrated capsule with CS combat irritant — a toxic chemical substance with an irritating effect — was found in one of these UAVs.
This information has already been confirmed by Ukrainian special services and the State Emergency Service.
"It is known that a capsule with a concentrated combat chemical agent "CS" was found in one of the UAVs. This is a highly toxic substance with an irritating effect. Enemy UAVs can scatter capsules with a toxic substance in order to harm people," the Central Military District noted.
At the same time, the Center emphasized that the information that drone hulls are allegedly treated with toxic substances has not yet been confirmed.
CS (2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile) was first synthesized in 1928, but its active use began in 1956, when it was converted into an aerosol. Since then, CS has been widely used to suppress mass protests and disperse rallies, mainly in the form of chemical grenades.
The Ukrainian military has repeatedly reported cases of such grenades being dropped from drones during hostilities. Now, a case of CS capsules being used in "Shahedi" has already been recorded.
It is important to understand that the use of tear gas as a means of warfare is prohibited by international law — the 1925 Geneva Protocol and the Chemical Weapons Convention. Therefore, such actions are classified as a war crime.
At the same time, another disturbing version began to circulate in the Ukrainian media - they say that the Russians are treating the drone bodies themselves with chemicals to poison those who collect the debris. However, this data has not yet been confirmed and may be part of an information war, in particular, allegations by the Russians themselves.
Experts urge people to remain vigilant, not to touch drone debris without protective equipment, and to report suspicious cases to special services.
