The American edition of Newsweek reported that F-16 aircraft have probably already arrived in Ukraine. It is noted that this information arose after the Russian army lost four Su-34s. Although Russian propagandists suggested a connection between these losses and F-16s, the Ukrainian Air Force denies this information.
Rumors about the possible arrival of F-16s in Ukraine emerged in the context of recent Russian military losses. Proponents considered the possibility of using F-16s to shoot down a Su-34, which led to rumors that these aircraft were already present in Ukraine.
Newsweek, citing an unnamed source in the US, suggests that Ukraine has likely received the first F-16 aircraft promised to it by its allies. However, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, denied this information, noting that preparations for receiving the aircraft are still ongoing.
“The American edition of Newsweek published an article with incredible assumptions about the presence of F-16s in Ukraine and even their PROBABLE involvement in the destruction of six Russian planes,” Ignat wrote on Facebook.
It is important to note that the F-16s should have arrived in Ukraine no earlier than spring 2024, as part of the aviation coalition created by Western allies. It should be noted that the first five F-16s were sent by the Netherlands to Romania for training Ukrainian pilots.
