The American publication Newsweek reported that the F-16 planes have probably already arrived in Ukraine. It is noted that this information arose after the loss of four Su-34s by the Russian army. Although Russian propagandists assumed the connection of these losses with the F-16, the Air Force of Ukraine denies this information.
Rumors about the possible arrival of the F-16 in Ukraine appeared in the context of the latest losses of the Russian army. Propagandists considered the possibility of using the F-16 to shoot down the Su-34, which led to rumors that these aircraft were already in Ukraine.
Newsweek, citing an unspecified source in the US, admits that Ukraine has probably received the first F-16 aircraft promised to it by its allies. However, the spokesman of the Air Force of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, in a comment for RBC-Ukraine, denied this information, noting that preparations for receiving the planes are still ongoing.
"The American edition of Newsweek published an article with incredible assumptions about the presence of F-16s in Ukraine and even their ALLEGED involvement in the destruction of six Russian planes," Ignat wrote on Facebook.
It is important to note that the F-16 should have arrived in Ukraine no earlier than the spring of 2024, as part of the aviation coalition created by the Western allies. It should be noted that the first five F-16 aircraft were sent by the Netherlands to Romania for the training of Ukrainian pilots.
