Germany plans to send Ukraine five more PAC-3 interceptor missiles, which are used in Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius after a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues in Ukraine in the Ramstein format.
According to Pistorius, Berlin is ready to provide additional missiles on the condition that other countries provide a total of 30 more interceptors of this type.
" Germany is going to send 5 additional PAC-3 interceptors to Ukraine if other countries provide a total of 30 PAC-3s. We all know that this is about saving lives. Protecting the skies is one of the priorities of our support ," he stressed.
The minister also recalled that Germany has already transferred five out of twelve Patriot systems to Ukraine, and also supplied IRIS-T systems.
At the same time, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported that the Contact Group member countries have announced a total assistance of $38 billion to Ukraine. A significant part of the new support packages is aimed at strengthening air defense, developing unmanned systems, forming drone assault units, as well as deep-strike weapons and interceptor drones.
According to Fedorov, the structure of aid is changing - more and more resources are being directed specifically towards high-tech systems that can effectively counter modern threats.
