German police reported finding the body of a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl who disappeared on June 3 while on the way to school. The tragic event took place in a forest near the city of Döbeln in the federal state of Saxony.
This was reported by German publications Bild and Frankfurter Allgemeine.
The investigation found no evidence that nine-year-old Valeria was the victim of a sexual crime. However, the police are investigating the murder.
The girl and her mother came to Germany in 2022. According to German media, her parents are divorced. The father is a military man and is fighting in the east of Ukraine.
On the morning of June 12, local media reported that a body was found in the forest, about three kilometers from the house where Valeria's family currently lives. Later, the police confirmed that it belonged to the missing Ukrainian woman.
