South Korea refused to supply weapons to Ukraine, even for money

South Korea has refused to supply weapons to Ukraine, even when payment was offered. The decision has been significant news on the international stage, given the global implications of Russia's aggression in Ukraine and Kyiv's recent efforts to secure modern weapons from partners around the world.

A delegation led by Defense Minister Umerov traveled to Seoul to meet with the president. They expressed a desire to purchase Korean weapons, including Cheonggung medium-range surface-to-air missiles, anti-artillery radars, and 155mm ammunition.

Seoul said that selling weapons to a war zone violates its laws, and it does not have enough production and stockpiles to supply everyone who wants them by 2030.

However, SBS writes that the reason for the refusal may be the election of Trump, who promises to end the war, and therefore it will be "not easy to help Ukraine without keeping up with the elected US president.".

Following the visit, Umerov himself stated that he had informed Seoul about the participation of North Korean military personnel in the war on the side of the Russian Federation.

"We believe that our arguments about the need to increase cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea will lead to a tangible strengthening of the security of our peoples and regions," the Ukrainian minister writes.
