New rules of mobilization and military training have been launched from May 1

On May 1, 2025, important innovations in Ukraine's mobilization are being operated in Ukraine, as well as changes for some categories of mobilized. In particular, this applies to conscripts who have restrictions on health, new types of deferral and basic military training.

Who is to be mobilized since May 1?

Since the beginning of May, men will call men between the ages of 18 and 60 with experience of military service, as well as citizens from 25 to 60 years without prior military experience. They will take into account the health status: fully suitable for the service, suitable for logistics and specialized tasks or suitable for service only in individual military institutions and units.

Also, conscripts are subject to military registration, withdrawn from it (provided that the reason for the removal has passed) and even excluded from the account-if the Military Medical Commission voluntarily pass and receive a positive conclusion.

Certain categories of citizens can be mobilized solely at will-these are people with disabilities, released from captivity, convicted who received parole, and persons under 25 years of age who have undergone basic general military training.

Basic military training and changes for “limited fit”

Since May, the period of basic military training for conscripts who previously belonged to the "limited" category has been significantly reduced. Now instead of 45 days they will only be prepared for 30 days. The training involves reducing physical activity, as well as the formation of individual training units for these servicemen.

Separately since September 1, 2025, basic general military training will become a mandatory element of study in all Ukrainian universities, regardless of ownership.

The mandatory passing of the VLK for the military with the mark "restricted" should be completed by June 5, 2025, so May will actually be the last month for re -examination. Directions to the VLK can be obtained through a mobile application "Reserve+" or directly to the CCC. After examination, a person will be given a new status - suitable or unsuitable, depending on health.

Innovations should clearly identify the categories of suitability of the military and optimize the system of training of personnel for the fulfillment of the tasks of the Armed Forces.
