Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga announced the recall of the temporary representative of Ukraine in Georgia. Sybiga called the reason for such a decision "a complete misunderstanding of the realities of the diplomacy of a country that is waging a war."
The temporary attorney in Georgia was Mykhailo Kharyshyn.
Sybiga indicated that his decision was due to the need to improve diplomatic relations and adequately respond to the situation in the country, which is in a state of war. The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the situation requires a more active and proactive position on the part of Ukrainian ambassadors and consuls, who should not wait for instructions from the center, but should independently take the necessary measures to support national interests.
Previously, the Georgian side has repeatedly claimed that the West, Ukraine and the Georgian opposition allegedly intend to draw Georgia into a war against Russia. There were also claims about the possible preparation of a coup with the participation of Georgian citizens who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sibiga called for active diplomacy that would meet the challenges of war. He emphasized the importance of the proactive position of Ukrainian diplomats for effective defense of the country's interests in the international arena.
It is expected that a new temporary representative will be appointed in the near future, and his task will be to restore the effective work of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Tbilisi. The government also plans to take measures to improve cooperation with Georgia and reduce possible diplomatic tensions.
