A member of the Jehovah's Witnesses religious group has won a major court victory against the CCC in the Odessa region. The case has drawn attention to issues of human rights and freedom of religion in Ukraine.
The court decision states that the CCC fined the man 17,000 hryvnias for violating the rules of military registration, as he did not specify his personal data and did not register for military service. However, the member of the Jehovah's Witnesses proved in court that he had updated his military registration data in the Reserve+ application within the time limits established by law. The man also repeatedly applied to various bodies, in particular to the CCC, with a request to consider the issue of his alternative service, since he is a minister of a religious association.
As a result, the court canceled the fine imposed on the CCC.
Recall that previously, the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of the courts stated that religious beliefs under martial law are not a reason for deferring mobilization.
