In Odessa, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have uncovered a scheme aimed at undermining the mobilization process. At the center of the scam is the military medical commission of the Primorsky District Territorial Center for Recruiting and Social Support.
As reported by "Law and Business" with reference to the State Bureau of Investigation, the commission's doctors issued fictitious medical reports for conscripts without their actual presence. Such documents allowed conscripts to illegally receive a deferment from service.
According to the investigation, the members of the VLK acted in collusion with the participants in a large-scale corruption scheme previously exposed by the State Bureau of Investigation. The deal was organized by a local resident who involved an employee of the Service Support Center of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an employee of the Primorsky CCC and SP, as well as two intermediaries.
For the "service" of evading military service, the businessmen demanded $16,000 from the conscripts. The indictments against the organizers have already been submitted to the court.
Currently, four members of the military medical commission are suspected of official forgery committed by a group of persons in a prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Investigators are considering their removal from office.
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment.
