Sources in the Office of the President of Ukraine reported that the organization of international tours for Volodymyr Zelenskyi is becoming increasingly difficult, especially when it comes to the countries of the Global South. While European leaders are still ready to meet and negotiate, the situation in Africa and the Middle East looks much more complicated.
Last year, Andriy Yermak, the head of the President's Office, instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize Zelenskyi's tour to African and Middle Eastern countries. However, according to our sources, the date of the visit has been postponed to the fall of 2024, and the question of the number of countries that will be able to be visited remains open for now.
One of the reasons for this is the political and economic challenges faced by the countries of the Global South in the context of the global crisis. Some of these countries are hesitant to support Ukraine due to different strategic and economic interests. This, in particular, affects the willingness of their leaders to receive visits, as well as cooperation within the framework of international sanctions against Russia.
The President's office is currently considering the possibility of adjusting plans for Zelenskyi's tour, depending on the situation in international politics and the development of global relations.
