The Office of the President of Ukraine denied the information that allegedly seven countries oppose Ukraine's invitation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). This was announced by the press secretary of the head of state Serhiy Nikiforov.
Nikiforov emphasized that "the information in the mass media that seven countries oppose Ukraine's invitation to NATO is not true." According to him, such rumors are beneficial to those who seek to create a false impression that Ukraine's accession to the Alliance does not have broad support among its members. "Actually, the idea of inviting Ukraine is supported by the absolute majority of member countries, and active advocacy work is being conducted for the rest," he emphasized.
The press secretary also reminded that the invitation to NATO is the first point of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's Victory Plan, which represents a reliable path to a just and lasting peace. "Volodymyr Zelenskyi presented the plan to international partners, the Ukrainian parliament and community, representatives of the mass media and civil society, and is consolidating their efforts to bring Ukraine closer to NATO's invitation," Nikiforov noted.
This statement was a response to information published by Politico on October 23, according to which seven countries, including the United States, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, Slovenia and Spain, opposed Ukraine's invitation to NATO. The refutation of the Office of the President testifies to the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities to increase international support on the way to Euro-Atlantic integration.
