In Ukraine, the price of some products continues to rise, in particular, the vegetables of the borscht set. According to the analysts of the EastFruit project, the upper price limit for white cabbage has risen from 30 to 35 hryvnias per kilogram. This makes it the most expensive vegetable in traditional borscht, and the cost of other vegetables also shows changes.
Potato prices, after a slight price increase last week, returned to their previous level. Currently, vegetables are sold at 20-23 hryvnias/kg, although a week earlier prices ranged from 22-28 hryvnias/kg. Sweet pepper, in turn, fell in price from 140 to 135 UAH/kg, and zucchini became more expensive by 5 UAH and now costs 115 UAH/kg.
The green remains stable: prices remained at the level of the previous period without experiencing significant fluctuations.
As for fruits, their prices have changed in different directions. For example, the price of pomegranate decreased from UAH 95-110/kg to UAH 90-100/kg, and persimmons decreased from UAH 95-170/kg to UAH 80-150/kg. At the same time, lemons rose in price to UAH 63/kg, and wholesale prices for bananas decreased from UAH 58-62/kg to UAH 52-60/kg.
Mandarins are also becoming cheaper, dropping from UAH 75-140/kg to UAH 65-135/kg. But oranges rose in price to UAH 68-130/kg, compared to UAH 65-125/kg at the beginning of December.
Experts predict that as the holidays approach, meat prices may rise, although after the New Year they will probably return to their previous levels. Oleksandr Horev, coordinator of the EastFruit project, noted that potato prices may remain high even before the season of active harvesting of late varieties. According to him, there are currently no prerequisites for a sharp drop in prices for this product.
